Brianna Harris

Brianna was exposed to dance at the early age of 4. Born in Columbia, SC, Brianna received her training from the Dee Crump Dance Studio where she began taking tap, ballet, and jazz dance classes. She accelerated to the Center for Dance Education under the leadership of Ms. Mimi where she performed in the Nutcracker and other dance recitals from the studio for 3 years.  It was here that she really discovered her love for expressive movement and wanted to learn how to execute and perform more genres of dance. She joined The Southern Strutt Pre-Teen Company in the 8th grade and danced in the performance company all throughout high school. She had the opportunity to perform at several high schools in the Lexington 5 school district and competed in high-ranked competitions in South Carolina. One year, she got to perform at the Colonial Life Arena. Brianna also enrolled in her school’s dance programs in middle and high school where she participated in the District Honor’s Dance program for 7 consecutive years. Her senior year of high school, she was selected to be Dreher Dance Company’s captain. Brianna continued her dancing career into college and was a member of the Carolina Coquettes Dance Team, the team a part of the Marching Band at the University of South Carolina, for 4 years. She was selected as Co-Captain for her final two seasons. While at Carolina, she also auditioned for and performed in the Senior Student Choreography Showcase that members of the dance department put on to display their work.  Her passion for dance also moved her to teach younger children at the Academy of Dance Arts studio in Columbia her freshman year of college. She taught children 6-18 contemporary and hip hop, and she loved every moment and learned much from this experience.
