Jocelyn Ramirez

Jocelyn Ramirez was born in Fort Bragg, NC. Jocelyn trained at The Southern Strutt for 11 years where she worked with choreographers known as Justin Giles, Dee Caspary, Ray Leeper, Brooke Pierotti, Sonya Tayeh and more. She has won numerous scholarships during her competition years as a jazz co mpany member with Strutt at conventions such as Jump, LA Dance Magic, West Coast Dance Explosion, NUVO, SoulEscape, and Shock the Intensive. At the age of 18, Jocelyn was an assistant for Shock, Beyond, and Jump Dance con‐ vention with choreographers Caroline Lewis-Jones, Tina Caspary, Melody Lacayanga, Bobby Newberry
and Brooke Pierotti. Another one of Jocelyn's many accomplishments was the announcement of being
1st runner-up out of 300 dancers for LA Dance Magic Convention's title "Dancer of the Year" in 2007. Jocelyn has made appearances on television shows "So You Think You Can Dance" and Lauriann Gibson's Project Born to Dance. Today, Jocelyn dances in a professional contemporary company called Unbound, founded by Caroline Lewis-Jones and Susan Dabney Hancock in 2008. Jocelyn also sets choreography on competitive teams of dance studios and school districts in Columbia, Lexington, and Northeast areas of SC. Currently living in Hopkins, SC, married to George Ramirez- Olmeda, with their two children, Amiya and George Ramirez Jr. Although she has many achievements, Jocelyn always strives to be an inspiration to young dancers everywhere, teaching them to be confident in dancers everywhere, teaching them to be confident in who they are in the dance industry and in life.
