Joseph Armon Boyd is a passionate artist with a focus in choreography and dance instruction. A South Carolina native, Joseph began dancing at the age of eight at Chester Park Elementary School for the Arts. Later, Joseph continued his dance training under the direction of Erika Hogan at New Attitude Performing Arts Center in Rock Hill, SC. He has trained in numerous genres of dance and won numerous high-score and overall awards as a competitive dancer. In 2017 Joseph received a full scholarship to the Debbie Allen Dance Academy Summer Intensive and performed in the Super Bowl LVI Halftime show. Currently a senior at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, Joseph is majoring in Dance Education with K-12 Certification and has performed with the UofSC Dance Company. Joseph teaches dance at DreamWorks Dance Academy in Sumter, SC and Beyond Words Dance Academy in Columbia, SC training and choreographing for their competitive dance teams. When not teaching his competitive students, Joseph travels as a freelance choreographer and instructor. Joseph loves to share the gift of dance wherever he can and strongly believes that dance is language that can be used to facilitate conversations about social justice and societal issues.
